Best Dressed - Oscars 2013

So, this is a little thing I think I'm going to start doing at each big event in the showbiz world. I seem to tweet all my favourite dressed women everytime but I'm becoming a little obsessed with awards fashion so I thought I would make a bigger note of my opinions (for my benefit, by the way).

So last night was the Oscars, one of the most glamorous and prestigious events in the film industry and what a show it was. The fact it had a "musical" theme already set high standards for me, that it definitely met. From Adele to Barbra Streisand, all the performances were sensational and in my personal opinion, they were the highlight of the awards (Apart from Jennifer Lawrence falling over). But I'm writing this to share my opinion on the top best dressed women of the show, so I should really stop chatting shit and get on with it, apologies.

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille Couture
Love the detail on this dress, not overdone like a lot of the "arty" designs are. Just a shame about the shoes, what are they about? A more classic and dainty shoe would have finished off the outfit nicely.

 

Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta
There is not much this woman can wear and not look great, yet again she dominates the red carpet in this gorgeous dress. The bodice is fitted enough to compliment the large lower part and teamed with the minimal make up and hair.. Bravo!

Naomi Watts In Armani Privé 

I rarely appreciate a full sequined dress as the majority make you look like a fallen diso ball, but I love this. I think the unusual shoulder design is what has won me over, she looks stunning! 

 

 

Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture

Plain and simple is clearly the way to do it, everything about the look is very bland but is the one that my attention is drawn to the most.

Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan

It takes a lot to pull off this neckline but as Taylor Swift showed us last week and as Stacy Keibler is showing us here, when you get it right it looks amazing. The black waistline shows off her amazing figure and will have many women (especially me) envious that they do not look like this. Hot, hot, hot!
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Louise Roe in Monique Lhullier  

Last but not least, showing the Americans how it is done by the Brits is Louise Roe, who doesn't seem to be getting much attention for this outfit but I think it is in my top 3 of the night. Very classy but a little bit edgy at the same time, what more could you want?

 

 

2012- the events that stood out.

So I rembered yesterday that I did this whole "reflective" thing last year on my 'Top 5 moments of 2011' so it only seems right I make this an annual shindig, even though some things are reoccurring times. And on further reflection, I've realised it's not even top "moments" but actual events instead. So enough of the rambling, here are my top 5 "events" of 2012- a year that makes me go "meh". 

5. Ski Season.

Think this needed to be in here as the past 2 weeks have been a lot of fun and I know it's gonna continue that way, so I'm throwing it in here. As most of you probably know, I came to Meribel on the 21st December to attempt an infamous ski season, forgetting the fact I can't actually ski and don't really like the cold. But so far so good, I can now ski (well, I am using that phrase loosely) and I have met some great people so, I am starting the year on a positive note. Lets hope it stays that way..

4. Idina Menzel 

This appeared on last years list and its most certainly appearing again. I bloody love this woman, saw her for the 2nd time this year and it was even more spectacular. Maybe because I was front row in an intimate venue instead of at the back of the Royal Albert Hall (bit of a difference). She is my absolute idol (not counting babs) and I am in constant awe of her when seeing her perform. (Fangirl) Can not even explain why 'cause admittedly she doesn't have the greatest voice in the world but maaaaaaan she blows my mind. Love you Menzy - new nickname.

3. London 

Yet again this apearred on last years list but for completely different reasons. This year I actually moved there and in those 8 months, I had some of my absolute worst times but also a lot of good ones that thankfully cover the shit up. I thought that living in London would have me at a stage show every night with it being so accessible, yet it turned me away from that and has left me trying to run from anything "stagey" (cringe!) as much as possible. I'd love to say that in my eyes London still has that sparkle I've always loved but at the moment I'm not convinced. Take me back to London on a night time during a big event like the Olympics/Jubilee- because that's when it's at its best. Thanks to my London friends that made life there a lot of fun even when times were really shitty. You're all awesome! 

 2. Lady Gaga

Saw Lady Gaga live in October at Twickenham stadium and WOW what a show. Her fans are fucking weird (excluding me, obv) and some god awful sights I witnessed when squashed up to the thousands of "Little Monsters" trying to get home definitely proved that. It was without a doubt the best concert I have ever seen and if you missed it, you really missed it. She's fucking mental and definitely has a screw loose but her creativity and talent has me in amazement. Come back soon Gaga, cheers.

1. New York 

Made a snappy decision to join my pals on a trip to New York this October and man, I'm bloody glad I did. Cannot possibly name all the highlights but from doing things such as; watching the final ep of Gossip Girl being filmed to going to church at the Brooklyn Tabernacle (lol Tabernacle) everything that we did/saw was so much beyond what I could have imagined. It's such an interesting city and even though we saw everything you could think of, I still feel like there's much more hiding out there. As much as I enjoyed visiting those familiar sights you see on TV 24/7, I feel like there's so much more to see, away from the bright lights. So I need to get my ass back out there ASAP to really get my head around the American culture.. Who's coming?
